LEGO® Star Wars™: The Complete Saga (TCS) is a widely acclaimed
video game that combines the iconic LEGO building blocks with
the beloved Star Wars™ universe. Developed by Traveller's Tales
and published by LucasArts, the game was initially released in
2007 and is available on various gaming platforms, including
consoles and PC. The game masterfully blends the charm of LEGO
construction with the epic narrative of the Star Wars saga,
delivering a unique and humorous gameplay experience that
appeals to both fans of the LEGO brand and the Star Wars
franchise.
At its core, LEGO® Star Wars™: TCS captures the
essence of the Star Wars saga while infusing it with LEGO's
distinct visual style and playful humor. The game covers all six
main Star Wars films, spanning from Episode I: The Phantom
Menace to Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. By using LEGO
characters, vehicles, and settings, the game brings a
lighthearted and whimsical twist to the familiar storylines,
offering a fresh perspective that encourages players to see the
iconic moments and characters from a new angle.
Player's
Goal
In LEGO® Star Wars™: TCS, players take on the roles of
various characters from the Star Wars universe, each represented
as LEGO minifigures. The primary goal is to progress through a
series of levels that correspond to key scenes from the movies.
These levels are grouped by episodes, with each episode
containing multiple chapters based on significant events within
the respective film.
The gameplay involves solving puzzles,
engaging in combat against enemies (often in a comically
exaggerated way), and utilizing the unique abilities of
different characters to overcome obstacles. Each character
possesses specific skills that are essential for solving puzzles
and progressing through the game. For instance, Jedi characters
can use the Force to manipulate objects, while droid characters
can access special panels to open doors or disable security
systems. Blaster-wielding characters, on the other hand, excel
in combat scenarios.
One of the game's defining features is
its cooperative multiplayer mode, allowing two players to work
together locally to navigate the levels and complete challenges.
This cooperative aspect adds an extra layer of enjoyment as
players collaborate to solve puzzles and achieve objectives.
Throughout
the levels, players collect LEGO studs, the in-game currency, by
smashing objects and defeating enemies. These studs can be used
to unlock new characters, purchase vehicles, and earn various
rewards, enhancing the replayability of the game as players
strive to achieve a "True Jedi" rank in each level by collecting
a certain number of studs.
LEGO® Star Wars™: The Complete
Saga merges the imaginative world of LEGO with the legendary
Star Wars saga, resulting in a delightful and engaging gameplay
experience. Its theme of combining two beloved universes has
garnered a wide fan base, and the player's goal of progressing
through levels, collecting studs, and unlocking characters
creates an enjoyable and addictive gaming adventure. The game's
ability to capture the essence of both LEGO and Star Wars while
offering a fresh take on the stories and characters has
solidified its place as a classic in the world of video gaming.

It turned out to be a game on steam, but now it’s available on mobile phones too! fun!

Unfortunately, the controls for this iOS port are slightly sub-par, and the only way you unlock half of the playable characters is by paying $7.99, but otherwise. It's an absolute masterpiece. I recommend it on every level.

TT Games does have a lot of fun hiding little comic details in the levels, like stormtroopers wearing bathing suits, or stormtrooper helmets that don't quite fit Chewbacca's head. The cutscenes somehow convey so much emotion without even saying any of the dialogue. Collect studs, build LEGO bricks, and interact with Force levels. It's a lot of fun and definitely the best way to experience the Star Wars saga.
