When I first heard the name "Baldi's Basics Classic," I thought
it was a relaxing school puzzle game with simple graphics,
reminiscent of educational software from the last century. But
once I actually played, I realized this wasn't just any ordinary
school journey, but a thrilling escape adventure filled with
mystery and tension.
The story begins in a seemingly
ordinary school. You enter a classroom and encounter Baldi, the
bald teacher with a strange smile and an odd voice. He tells you
to complete math exercises—which, at first, seem normal, just a
few simple equations. But when you get an answer wrong, the
atmosphere suddenly changes: Baldi's smile disappears, and a
ruler appears in his hand. Each crisp "snap" reminds you that
he's closing in. In that moment, the atmosphere of the school
goes from bright and cheerful to depressing, leaving you with a
chilling chill.
To escape this "school," you must find and
solve seven workbooks scattered throughout the classrooms. The
problem is, the problems aren't always solvable; some are even
unsolvable traps. Make a mistake, and Baldi's pace will
accelerate as you pursue. To make matters worse, this school is
far from peaceful. A variety of strange characters lurk within:
mischievous students who will drag you into trouble, janitors
who force you through the hallways, strange NPCs who suddenly
appear and obstruct your movements... Each character could cause
an accident on your way to escape.
You'll hear footsteps
echoing through the hallways, a warning from Baldi. You must
listen carefully, using the sound to determine his location, and
tactfully choose to hide or take a detour. The game lacks flashy
graphics, but it uses minimal sound effects to create a powerful
sense of tension. Every time you successfully obtain a new
workbook, your heartbeat quickens, knowing that Baldi is one
step closer.
The game's greatest charm lies in its sense of
contrast. It appears to be a retro educational app, but it's
actually a thrilling and tense escape game. It's a parody of 90s
learning games, blending horror with humor. You never know what
trap you'll encounter next, and you never dare to let your guard
down. If Baldi's Basics Classic is a story, it's a nightmare
about learning. You think you're just solving a few puzzles, but
you're unexpectedly caught up in a cat-and-mouse chase. Every
time you successfully escape the school gates, you breathe a
sigh of relief, but the nagging fear remains—as if Baldi will be
right behind you again.
